SUNNYBRAE CANOE POINT COMMUNITY RESOURCES
COMMUNITY HALLS
We are lucky to have the Sunnybrae Community Hall and the Sunnybrae Seniors Hall, both conveniently situated next to the Sunnybrae Community Park right on the lakeshore in central Sunnybrae.
Each of our halls are maintained by volunteer nonprofit organizations and host a variety of community and member events. We tip our hats to the many community minded volunteers who serve.
Sunnybrae Seniors Hall
The Sunnybrae Seniors Hall located right next door to the community hall is the place for those over the age of 55 years to get together for weekly social events and from time to time for special events.
The Seniors host the Chilli and a Bun on nights the Community Hall hosts the Coffee house. A perfect marriage when the two halls come together for a relaxing evening of food and music. Connect on Sunnybrae Seniors Hall on Facebook.
Sunnybrae Community Hall
The Sunnybrae Community Hall is centrally collated across from the Sunnybrae Community Park and next door to the Sunnybrae Seniors Hall. The natural setting for the halls is a comfortable location for your special event.
The community hall is a perfect venue for your special meeting or event. The hall is also home to a local favorite, the Coffeehouse. A full evening of music and neighbourly enjoyment. Stop by for Chilli at the Seniors Hall and walk over to the Community Hall for a full slate of music. Also, home to the Small Hall Music Crawl you will find regular music offerings throughout the year.
The Tappen Sunnybrae Volunteer Fire Department
The Tappen Sunnybrae Volunteer Fire Department is located in central Sunnybrae proximal to the entrance of Sunnybrae Estates at 3732 Sunnybrae Canoe Point Road.
Lead by our fire chief Marc Zaichowsky, the firehall has approximately thirty volunteers including three Junior Fire Fighters (15-17yrs). Established in 1988 the hall has one engine and a back up engine, two water tenders and one command truck.
The firehall also has superior tanker accreditation which can help keep home insurance down for some residents. Volunteers are sometimes deployed to other areas of the province as part of the CSRD Structural Protection Unit Teams. Some members are part of the CSRD Instructor/tech Teams that train firefighters at the Training Centre in Salmon Arm. The volunteers at the firehall do the Santa Run Fundraiser for the Second Harvest Food Bank (Salmon Arm) and the Salvation Army as well as the S.A.F.E Society (Shuswap Area Family Emergency Society).
Volunteers meet at the firehall every Tuesday at 7pm. Newcomers are welcome.
